Since over 500 years, the silver mine has existed at Kittenrain. Initially, one searched for silver, later also for precious stones. Schließlich wurde es zum Schaubergwerk umgestaltet. Finally, it was reorganized to a mine for teaching purposes.
Today, visitors have the option to experience firsthand the former mine "Silberschacht" and its history on a guided tour. In historically modeled after miner clothes clothes, visitors go underground and get insights into the oldest technology of mankind. A sound and picture show alongside the knowledgeable guides brings you a lot of information to mining and the rock stratum. Guided tours for groups through the visitor and adventure mine are possible at any time by appointment.
